Thats what you should be using a DT for, not riding down a long stretch of road wringing its neck tring to get to the astounding top speed of In which case, the dt stil isnt built for speed, its build for light offroading, and when on the road its made for wheelies and arsing about.. Are you getting it new? If so, your first five hundred miles are probably going to be limited to 40mph or so anyway.

I would rather pop around at 50 for a lot of the time than do 80, blow the engine and spend the next couple of months picking chunks of piston out of the crankcases.

Mine does about 75 with 2 on but it won't do 80 even with jus myself. I'm hoping it's just the high heat and humidity which is causing this??? About 75ish down a hill in 6th gear, i'll never believe anyone saying theirs goes over 90! However resistance between knobblies and sm tyres will make a difference i reckon on top speed.
I could get somewhere between 80 and 85mph flat, quite regularly with Trail tyres on. Darty said in Top speed :. I've had just over 75, standard model just deristricted.
