Stay in the far right lanes as you enter the signage is confusing and says that this is for pass-holders and park in the lot next to the gates and cross the three lanes of people waiting to get their day passes towards the machine. If the park is busy weekend, sunny day, etc. Eric B Ottawa, Canada 1 contribution. Too many rude wardens and dirty facilities. Went camping with a small group of friends in our 30s and after a 3 hour drive and having finally set up our tents, we finally sat down by the fire and starting chatting and opened a beer.

It was about by the time we were settled and we didn't have any music and a camp warden comes by and tells us we were being too loud.

As nobody was intoxicated, singing or yelling, we were a bit baffled and questioned if he was sure he was checking the right campsite. He followed up by telling us this was our final warning and next time we'd be evicted. Throughout the weekend, 3 different warden cars an F, and a few Impala's literally drove around the whole park every 20 minutes actively seeking to give tickets. Camping is supposed to be relaxing and fun. It felt like we were staying in a police state where the wardens were trying to make a few extra bucks by dinging people with tickets.

Also, like many others have indicated, the washrooms are terrible. I've camped at Sandbanks for the past few years and the warden situation has just been getting worse. This trip was the final straw. If you're looking to have a drink or two around a campfire at night while camping I'm not talking about getting hammered or anything , I'd stay away unless you like flashlights being pointed in your face by camp wardens.

Rent a cottage or something. Stay elsewhere if you're visiting Picton, but check out the beach, it is pretty nice. Won't be going back to Sandbanks. KenW13 Toronto, Canada 9 contributions. Long Time Sandbanks Camper Advice for Non Campers and First Timers Good Day! I just had to write this to dispel much of the bad experiences people claim to have at Sandbanks Provincial Park or other Ontario Parks.

As with many reviews here, read between the lines Sandbanks is the premier spot to relax on a beach, play in the water, go fishing with the kids, canoe down a great little river, learn from knowledgeable rangers The greatest complaint you here is about bathroom and facility cleanliness.

Most of these issues occur on the day use side as it is a high use area and inevitably will have high pressure on facilities and sanitation during peak times Canada Day weekend. If people cleaned up after themselves, this problem would be nearly none existent. On the Camping beach Outlet A , a different story is told.

Campers that have planned and made efforts for their vacations tend to treat the campground and others around them with more respect, as they are familiar with the positive and negative experiences while camping.

Observing quiet time 11PM to 8AM , keeping your music tastes to yourself when in a radio free campground no deep bass! Slow down We stay on the beach side With a lot of effort and planning to book! We swim, boat, kayak, fish, read, drink Look forward to seeing you there!

Sandbanks, beautiful park but not well maintained. We stayed again at Sandbanks Provincial park for 4 nights. The park itself is amazing, we camp in a trailer quite a bit and Sandbanks was one trip we looked forward to every year. The beaches are amazing. The park facilities on the other hand are filthy. We checked into the park and proceeded to our site at Woodlands. The site itself was descent but the firepit was full of garbage from the previous folks.

I've been to other parks where the pit is cleaned etc. We hard to empty it ourselves and drive the garbage to the front main garbage dump. We were across bathroom facilities, but the bathrooms had no toilet paper and paper towels. Once we told the cleaning staff, and they said "oh, thanks for letting us know" like they didn't even notice.

The toilets were surface cleaned, but other wise filthy. Don't lift the seats! We are a family of 4 2 kids 5 and 6yrs old.

Our daughter would not even go into the bathroom due to it being dirty. Anyway, if only the facilities were maintained better, Sandbanks would make an awesome place to stay.

Next year we've booked at a private camp site 5 minutes away. We may visit sandbanks beach and purchase a day pass. Globetraveler74 Toronto, Canada contributions. Sandbanks is beautiful! Not only does it have a fantastic beach to swim in with soft sand but it's close enough to the pretty town of Picton and the lovely wineries in the surrounding area. Just beware of the park restrictions. A few examples My parents pre-paid for the site at a seniors rate.

When I arrived, I was told that because I'm not a senior, I had to pay for the difference of what my parents paid and what a regular site would be I didn't intend to take a ride on a seniors discount but why "nickel and dime" people? Make it a flat rate per day for an additional person and leave it at that! In fact, it looked like 2 cars had been parked on it many times before!! I parked my car alongside my parents. It sat there all day without one word of warning.

I woke up the next day to a parking ticket!! The park staff come around 2am. Pretty sneaky! I took time the next day to go to the park office. They retracted the ticket which I was thankful but I was annoyed.

The additional parking lot I discovered afterwards is not that close depending on where your site is. The additional parking lot to our site was a good min walk away. That's not ideal when you want to keep items in there out of harms way but need to access them easily throughout the day!

If they only allow one vehicle per site, they should have additional parking much closer. Sandbanks is continously booked up throughout the summer so there's no shortage of funds coming in. So being nabbed for these additional things takes the enjoyment out of it and is most annoying. Sandbanks is amazing. It consistently blows me away how much of a vacation I feel I've had after spending only a weekend there.

Most recently, we went in a group of five families with young children, and were able to get five campsites linked together by small paths through the woods. The kids had a blast running from site to site to visit one another, without having to venture out onto the road.

The campground had all amenities you could need.
